The earliest Catholic translation from the Latin Vulgate done in France by English Catholics exiled from Protestant England .The NT was published in Rheims in 1582; the OT at Douay in 1609. The Douay-Rheims was later revised by English Bishop Richard Challoner in the 18th century. The Old and New Testaments - from the 1899 edition published by John Murphy Company, Baltimore, Maryland. Imprimatur: James Cardinal Gibbons, Archbishop of Baltimore. This is the revision available today.
